Doesn't the reduction in the active nodes have to do with the halving? I guess some miners just unplugged their rigs in view of the upcoming (now recent) halving…

Prices falling might be a good time to hedge to USDT. I still think it's unlikely though but will keep an eye on the charts on my Koinpro exchange account.

I own and will continue to buy Bitcoin. Just don't agree with your
view on the rising debt of the USA and I don't see Bitcoin as a world
currency – just a nice retirement nest egg. I am curious though, on what
YOUR thoughts are on this clip.

Sunny you say “35% of the hashrate is sitting somewhere available to attack the network” …but its decentralised (outdated machines scattered across the globe), so how is it ‘available’ – all those redundant nodes would need to be completely coordinated (i.e start doing exactly the same thing at the same time).

Reply
Curtis Lucas June 28, 2020 - 10:07 pm

Hey Sunny love your stuff. Have a look at the hashrate of the other altcoins using the same algorithm. You will see where the miners went.

Node decentralization is not required for verifying transaction validity.

There are three types of invalid block:

1) a block with transactions which did not use the bitcoin owner’s correct private key,

2) a block with transactions which use the correct key but are attempting to send bitcoin which has already been spent, and

3) a block from which valid transactions have been deleted.

We don’t need node decentralization to vote on the first two kinds of problem, since those issues are automatically detected by the software and all nodes easily agree.

Decentralization is only needed for the third problem, which is solved by miners, not nodes.

Miners effectively vote with their hashpower to determine whether a valid previous transaction has been deleted.

But neither the person nor the software consciously decides if a transaction has been deleted.

The vote is just a natural consequence of the fact that the majority of miners are incentivized to include as many transactions as possible in their blocks, and only the tiny minority with a financial interest in canceling a particular transaction will attempt to delete a transaction.

Therefore most of the hashpower power across the network will not be working on the dishonest block, and the dishonest miner will not be able to compete.

Reply
Gregory Snelgar June 28, 2020 - 10:07 pm

If you controlled 51% of the hashpower, would you use this to send your bitcoin to two exchanges simultaneously to try for a one-time cash-out without getting caught? Or would you simply sit back and earn 450 bitcoin per day ($4.5 million), which is what you can earn by using 51% of the hashpower to mine blocks honestly?

Come on man what's going on. You go from a super bullish video to this a day later? You know the hash rate will go down after the halving as miners need to turn off unprofitable mining machines. It was already known that Paul Tutor Jones was buying through futures. As for nodes going down 20% that's doesn't make sense. You sure that's not mining nodes. I dont see any of this as bad signs.

At 6:17 you said, "you cannot argue against that." Listing a fact and then challenging others to argue against it. That is your version of F.U.D. Do you run a node? I didn't think so. And the reason why is because someone else is doing it for you. You are not mining, you are not an exchange, you make more money talking about bitcoin even when your thoughts are flawed.

This shows correction, I mean if we break 7.8k downward, then we will see bitcoin retest towards 5.8k, after all we will break 3 years resistance trend line. Let's see. Thanks sunnyD

What do you atribute it to?

It doesn’t matter if he is buying physical bitcoin or not, it has the same bullish effect on spit prices, because arbitrage traders bid up the spot price whenever the derivative prices go up. If they ever don’t, then do the arbitrage yourself for risk-free profit.
