Latest jobless claims report shows 6.6 million Americans filing for unemployment

by MAC

The Labor Department’s newest weekly jobless claims report shows 6.6 million Americans applying for unemployment over the last week. The previous two weeks saw around 10 million U.S. workers filing, a grim record that reflects the coronavirus pandemic’s massive weight on the economy. CBS News business analyst Jill Schlesinger joins “CBS This Morning” to break down what the latest numbers mean for workers today and the future of the U.S. economy.

It's the mostly we the people fault because they choose privilege over rights. Second when the rights of blacks are violated everyone turns a blind eye and allow laws to pass. This usually happens when groups or race of people thought they were exempt from what's to come. Now everyone is getting their wake up call and now want to republic back I don't feel sorry.

The great recession peaked at %10 claimed unemployment. As in %10 recieving benefits not counting those who exhausted theirs. That is 34 million at least as the peak.

I am surprised that anyone is surprised by the numbers. How can anyone not know the economic consequences a complete lockdown? Has anyone at CBS noticed the lack of traffic on our highways at rush hour?

That'll happen when your local governments won't let them work. Remove those morons from office and take your jobs back. Your rights aren't suspended bc your neighbor might get the flu.

In a situation like this the State needs to use social safety nets that are non-existent in US. Furthermore the healthcare system is private and costly. This is the limit of a completely liberal system

Still haven't approved most people's applications. System is too slow but yet landlords demand their money every month. Wouldn't doubt that things could get desperate to the point of a revolution.

Remember white people? Once upon a time, they dominated American life. But at some point in the 21st century, beset by climate change and low birth rates, they gradually died out……

''Six months later, still not pregnant. When my wedding date passed without a pregnancy, I was frustrated but not discouraged. We went to see a reproductive endocrinologist, who examined me and sent my husband off to have his sperm tested. The verdict was that he had very low sperm count, and we had a less than 1 percent chance of conceiving.''

“The reproductive endocrinologist informed us I had virtually no sperm,” Flynn recalled. “I sat there thinking, ‘I’m a man, I’m supposed to procreate.’ It was a real blow to my self-esteem and who I thought I was.''

“We should hope for the best and prepare for the worst,” said Hagai Levine, a lead author of the study. “And that is the possibility that we will become extinct."

I get 13.3 million unemployed for the last 2 weeks. They even try to make it better than it is in the subtitle of 6+. Although it's accurate round it off and it's 7 million. In any case I guess those 3.3 million people don't count with CBS News.
