$10,000 Off-The-Grid Tiny House With HUGE Solar System

by MAC

If you’ve ever worried that you wouldn’t be able to produce enough power when off the grid in a tiny house on wheels, this house may be the one to reassure you! I never thought that we would see a tiny house which has quite so many solar panels on the roof. Amazingly, this tiny house has a 4kw solar array with 36kw of lead acid battery storage, allowing the family to power not just their home (including all the modern appliances) but also a tiny house building workshop!

The home was constructed as a DIY build by Glade and Cloe, with the vast majority of all the materials being found in the hard rubbish. With all the labour done by the couple, and with the building materials mostly up-cycled and recycled, the home was constructed for an amazing price of only AU$10,000!

Sitting on 12 acres just outside of Melbourne, Australia the off-the-grid tiny house is an ideal home for his young family. Glade has started his own tiny house construction business which operates from his property, allowing him to spend time at home with his family. Their home is packed full of clever design ideas and is definitely one to check out. I hope you enjoy the video tour of this stunning off the grid tiny house.

I love this home! Very impressed. Too many build a tiny home and have too much piled up. This is beautiful. Love the wood work!

Craig Listing January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Joseph Smith January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

I like how this guy makes it clear that he didnt change his life because it was bad. He just realized life has more to offer.

Joseph Smith January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

I love the wood working, oh I adore the staining for me, solar power. I had to watch twice as I wish and hope they expand it for the children one day.

I'm sorry, those lofts are major claustrophobic. Just too confining in both the adult and children lofts. The children stairs are scary. Love the woods and the solar power is amazing.

Matty M January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

they truly are living the dream 👍

Lovely home – lovely couple. With all respect; that woman has the most beautiful hair and accent, and seems an amazing wife. The man epitomises fatherhood and works hard. Bless them.

Cathy Ann Watson January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

I love everything about the house and the solar panels, I cant wait for my country Trinidad and Tobago to start selling solar panels so I can purchase and build my Tiny house – off grid living

Joseph Johnson January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

TheGreatBeard January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Jazz marcel January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

As an American in France, it funny to hear a french accent speaking Australian English! Great tiny house!

Dan KnowsNothing January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

How did they get DA for the property? Am trying to do something similar, but councils on NSW are not having a bar of it.

RV Life with Dj Darren January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

“We have another property” year 3000 square-foot house that they actually live in lmao
Kind of joking but who knows -why would anyone with all that wonderful land
and nature build
a tiny house ?
( Great advertisement for their building tiny houses biz so fair enough )
it’s like the van life people
that don’t really live in the vans they just build vans for morons that think they do

Greg Tudor January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Thats a wonderful house & wonderful people – but i can't help but wonder If these people & the house survived those horrendous fires which have been & are still sweeping parts of Australia ?? I just hope they are OK

Supriya Rai January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Sweet home

Hodl and 2 the moon January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

So, you spent $10K to replace your existing $50 a month gas system? 10000/(50*12) = 16.7 years to break even, excluding the batteries and panels you will have to replace. Should have imported from China instead. You will quite possibly never get your money back with the regular replacements at these costs.

jamin jimmy January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

I guess but it's ugly as hell

madduck 23 January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Yeah, sadly, as long as we are forced to pay the extortion fees known as 'property taxes', we will NEVER own property!! 😡😡😡

Cutting Edge Power January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Congratulations! You love being renewable. I really love your house. It's pretty comfortable.Thank you for the interview. Lovely family. Usually, people just go to their houses to sleep and spend some weekends there. I love your house. How much power do you get using your solar system?

All Me January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

There is something very "Daddy" about the husband, and the wife has that sexy Italian thing going on…As you can tell, I'm pretty backed up ATM 🤗lol

ruby scott January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

One of the best tiny houses I have ever seen. The house looked lived in with kids and made sense in its construction. The family radiated joy and healing! They were so chilled out.
Their home is similar to way earlier homes were built minus the solar, maybe. I say maybe because historians never considered solar as a possible source of energy when I was at university. Their monthly bills are about 15 dollars! Amazing!

peapotter3 January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

What a beautiful home. I love all the wood.

Mystic Muna Maria January 23, 2020 - 3:01 pm

Love It! A few tweaks and I'd be right at home 😊 fantastic to have all that land to do several things at once. What a talented man Glade is. Wow! I hope they haven't been affected by any of the awful forest fires this year.
